The Challenge

The client had a well-designed Shopify store but was invisible on Google. They were getting around 50 organic visitors per day — almost all from branded searches (people who already knew their name). Zero ranking for category keywords like "ethnic wear online" or "women kurta sets." They had tried an SEO agency before who did some on-page changes and disappeared after 3 months with no results to show.

How We Did It

Month 1 — Technical foundation

We ran a complete technical audit and found critical issues: 847 broken internal links, missing canonical tags causing duplicate content across 200+ product variants, page speed of 4.2 seconds on mobile, and no structured data. We fixed all of this before touching content — because bad technical foundations make all SEO ineffective.

Month 1-2 — Keyword mapping and content architecture

We mapped 340 target keywords across three tiers: brand terms (easy, already ranking), category terms (medium competition, 60-day target), and collection terms (higher competition, 90-180 day target). We restructured the collection page architecture so each major product category had a dedicated, optimised page — not just a generic filtered view.

Month 2-4 — Content creation and on-page optimisation

We wrote and published 18 long-form collection page descriptions (600-1200 words each) targeting specific category keywords. We also created a buying guide blog (8 articles) targeting questions like "how to style ethnic wear" and "difference between cotton and silk kurta." These blog posts funnelled traffic to category pages through strategic internal linking.

Month 3-6 — Link building

We ran an outreach campaign targeting Indian fashion bloggers, lifestyle publications, and regional news sites. Over 6 months, we acquired 47 quality backlinks — all editorial, no paid links. Key placements included features in two Indore-based lifestyle blogs and a mention in a regional Hindi publication.
